- An occupational health physical, also known as a pre-employment or work-related physical examination, is designed to evaluate whether an individual is medically and physically capable of performing the essential functions of a specific job safely and effectively. These examinations are often tailored to the specific demands of the job and may include a variety of assessments and tests. Here’s a detailed description of what an occupational health physical might entail:
- Vision tests to ensure the individual meets the visual requirements of the job, which might include color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
- Hearing tests to ensure the individual can hear adequately, especially in environments where hearing is critical for safety.
- Evaluation of the individual’s muscle strength, flexibility, and joint function. This is particularly important for jobs requiring physical labor or repetitive movements.
- Assessment of heart health, which may include an EKG, especially for jobs that are physically demanding or involve high levels of stress.
- Lung function tests, such as spirometry, to assess the individual’s respiratory capacity and identify any potential issues that could be exacerbated by job conditions.
- Depending on the job, these may include blood tests, urinalysis, or drug screening to check for underlying health issues or substance use that might affect job performance.
- Tests to determine an individual’s ability to perform specific tasks related to the job, such as lifting, carrying, or standing for extended periods.
- Verification of required immunizations and an assessment of health risks based on the workplace environment, such as exposure to hazardous materials.
- An assessment to ensure that the individual can work safely within the physical environment of the workplace, often involving recommendations for ergonomic adjustments.
- Commercial Driver’s physical, also known as a DOT physical, is a medical examination required by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to ensure commercial vehicle drivers are physically fit to operate their vehicles safely. This exam verifies a driver’s health status and ability to handle the demands of driving large vehicles.

My husband and I had difficulty getting a test for the Corona virus. we finally got in touch with Victory Medical Center, and so glad we found you. We were treated so well and everything was explained in detail. We waited in the car like several other people, but the test was preformed more quickly than I expected. Thank you so much now I feel relieved that I tested negative . Great job Ladies.

I would recommend them to anyone who’s looking for a doctor who truly cares about you’re well-being. My 11 year old grandson, husband and I all go there and they make you feel like a part of the family!!
